Only 57% of African children are enrolled in primary education and one in three of those children do not complete school. Children need a fair start, a chance to thrive, learn and experience a better life.

In my advocacy for every child to get into school and learning, I met a young marginalised girl (weÂ鶹APP™re pictured above) who shared her story with me on why she is not in school and her desire to be educated. AfricaÂ鶹APP™s young voices must not be ignored, they must be heard.

My name is Ubaida Suleiman, I am 16 years old and from Zaria in Kaduna State, Nigeria. I have never attended primary school due to financial challenges.

I have a passion to get into school and learn like every other child who is in school and educated, but no opportunities have come my way. I am from a poor background and my parents canÂ鶹APP™t afford to send me and my siblings to school.

I believe the future is bright and I am hopeful to become a medical doctor when I finally obtain an education.

I am standing #UpForSchool with the millions of children who are out of school in Nigeria and globally. I want to also thank A World at School Global Youth Ambassador Joy for giving me the privilege to share my story with the world. Thank you!
